Deep gorges, a Nuraghe ruin, a spring with a basin, a waterfall and a pilgrimage church - this circuit in the hinterland of the Sardinian west coast is obviously not stingy with natural wonders. But that's not the only reason you should definitely take it on. With its sometimes tough route, it is also a treat for committed off-roaders.

The circuit starts at the Genna Su Ludu pass (840 m) south of Jerzu. Initially on reasonable gravel. For the first eight kilometers it descends steadily into a wide gorge, lined with high walls. After crossing a stream bed, a pilgrimage church and waterfalls await on the right, both of which have the same name - Santa Barbara, the patron saint of miners. Stop, get out or dismount and take a look.

One kilometer further on, the spring awaits on the right, and after another kilometer on the left, the Nuraghe ruins. In both cases, the short walk is worth it. The route then takes on a tough terrain and presents a lot of narrow passages, rough gravel and steps on the way up to a plateau. The visual finale is the white rocks of a deep gorge before the asphalt descends to Osini.

The trail is truly beautiful and offers amazing views of incredible valleys and mountains (they somehow reminded me of the Greek Meteora!). Given the current condition of the trails, it should definitely be classified as “easy,” as mentioned in the previous comment: all paths are very well maintained, and the few very steep sections are now paved with concrete. The fallen tree mentioned in the previous comment has been removed; however, there is another fallen tree about 4 km further down the trail, so we had to backtrack to the same alternate path mentioned in the previous comment.

A really beautiful route; the forest trails are all well-maintained and easy to ride on! We had quite a bit of forestry work to do because a storm had passed through a week ago. At km 27.3, we hit a dead end—several fir trees with a 40 cm diameter—and we had no chance of getting through with a hand saw. So we backed up about 50 m; there’s enough space there to turn around. So we went back to km 24.5, turned left there, and continued on the forest road to the km 32.8 section to finish the route. Everything is passable for vehicles up to Unimog size—classified as “easy” at the time of the drive.
