The 60-meter-high dune of Piscinas is one of the largest living dunes in Europe. Living because it constantly changes its shape due to the influence of the wind. Since rain only falls in winter, a very special desert flora, known as garrigue, thrives here. Because the dune and its seven-kilometer-long sandy beach are relatively difficult to access, this corner of Sardinia has fortunately been able to retain its austere charm, tranquility and unspoilt nature. The animal world also benefits from this - you can still see Sardinian red deer and sea turtles here. When the sea and sky merge on the horizon and the sand shimmers yellow, it becomes clear why UNESCO declared the beach and dune a World Heritage Site.

Lucky for those who have an off-road vehicle, because they can admire this natural spectacle up close. From Montevecchio, he takes the SP 66, which alternates between gravel and asphalt and leads down to the sea. On the way, he passes the hamlet of Ingurtosu and finally reaches the beach of Piscinas after a relatively relaxed 17 kilometers. Lots of downhill, a few uphill sections, and numerous curves and bends give the venture its off-road charm.
