Grotte di Bossea
This beautiful tour takes you through a stunning forest area in Piedmont. Starting at the Grotte di Bossea near Frabosa Soprana on the SP 183, the 18 km route leads to San Giacomo.
The Grotte di Bossea, with its impressive caves, surrounding forest, and beautiful stream with rapids, is well worth a visit. Large stones along the riverbank invite you to linger and relax.
The route begins opposite the caves, on the other side of the road. A small paved road first passes through the hamlet of Mondini, winding uphill until it transitions to a lightly gravelled, compact track. Along the way, you’ll see scattered ruins at the roadside.
The route continues through a scenic forest on a well-maintained, wide track, eventually reaching the Rifugio La Maddalena. This is a perfect spot to enjoy the stunning panorama and relax on the restaurant’s sunny terrace with excellent food.
After the final section of the gravel road through dense forest, the route concludes at the road near San Giacomo.
