Forte Piroat

This 13 km long beautiful section on the SS 21 near Vinadio leads through a wooded area of the Piedmontese Alps to forts with a beautiful fortress panorama.

 The first section leads over the SP 337 near the village of Vinadio. The tarred road leads over a narrow iron bridge over the river. Then the gravel track begins, which first leads uphill through a few hairpin bends through wooded areas. Along the route you can enjoy magnificent views of the Stura Valley and Vinadio. A short detour leads to individual ruins that invite you to explore. The next part of the track up to Forte Piorat is partly bumpy, on the last part deeply gravelled and goes steeply downhill. At the end of the route, you can once again enjoy the impressive view from the square in front of the buildings.
