The trail from Madonna del’Lago to just before Colle San Bartolomeo is partially washed out and covered in coarse gravel. The descent, on the other hand, is easy to ride. The route is only accessible from the east. Access from the west is prohibited.

Monte Dubasso - Alto
The Monte Dubasso in Piedmont is a daunting destination, steeped in eerie history and anything but easy to reach—especially for road bikes. In Italy, it is also referred to as the "Napoleonic Cemetery." This name stems from the Napoleonic era when the bodies of war casualties were buried on the mountain's slopes, often under massive boulders and without any markers.
At the summit, a cross now stands, but it is accessible only on foot via a challenging climbing path.
For motorized access, there are two alternative routes that bring you within a few hundred meters of the mountain. The shorter and easier route branches off from the SP 216 near the village of Alto. The lower switchbacks are paved and manageable without difficulty, leading to the charming pilgrimage site of Madonna del Lago. Around the ninth kilometer, the road transitions into a narrow gravel track, ending after a long curve southeast of Monte Dubasso.
The alternative route branches north from the west of Caprauna. This path is entirely gravel and recommended only for experienced enduro riders. It ends at the Colle San Bartolomeo, at an altitude of 1,439 meters, northwest of the summit.
