Trackbook | Norway and Sweden | Fjäll
The wild mountainous region of the Fjäll, in the border area between Norway and Sweden, is one of Europe’s last great natural landscapes. Treeless plateaus, vast forests, countless lakes and wild rivers characterise this remote landscape, which is home to moose, reindeer, bears and musk oxen.
Even during the peak tourist season, there is little traffic on the mostly easily navigable, unpaved tracks. In summer, many routes are accessible even in standard cars, whilst vans and 4x4s offer ideal conditions for extended tours through the vast expanses of the Fjäll. In autumn, vibrant colours create a truly special atmosphere, whilst in winter, snow and temperatures well below -20 °C present a real challenge.
