GPS Off-Road Touring Guide to Turkey
Book including data download
For this GPS Off-Road Touring Guide, we spent more than two months exploring Turkey in our Land Rover Defender. The result is a collection of 30 off-road routes across different regions, including the Taurus Mountains, Central Anatolia and the Black Sea Mountains. We drove and documented every route ourselves.
This 4×4 touring guide features 30 detailed off-road route descriptions together with the corresponding waypoint lists. Many of the routes are also suitable for larger vehicles (24 routes for FZK 3, including 16 for FZK 4), and four-wheel drive is required on only a few sections.
In western Turkey, we travel through unspoilt forests and across treeless highlands as far as Isparta. The mighty Taurus Mountains, stretching from north of Antalya towards Mersin, impress with their barren landscapes and vast open spaces, reminiscent of Mongolia. Several times, we climb to elevations of more than 3,000 metres.
In Central Anatolia, a visit to Cappadocia is a must. Adventurous trails through wild mountain landscapes take us to the Kemaliye Canyon, famous for its tunnel road carved into the sheer rock face. In north-eastern Turkey, exciting mountain passes through the Black Sea Mountains provide unforgettable off-road adventures with spectacular views of the surrounding peaks.
Special features on little-known natural phenomena, such as volcanic craters, as well as fascinating archaeological sites provide plenty of destinations for a varied and memorable journey.
The touring guide also includes practical travel information for independent travellers, together with useful tips on off-road driving and navigation.
