We – Regine and Martin – have been travelling off the beaten track in our VW campervan since 2004. To begin with, we spent nearly 20 years travelling in one of the first T5 California models – which back then still had front-wheel drive – from Greece to the North Cape and across North Africa. Nowadays, our four-wheel-drive T6.1 keeps drawing us back to places where solitude and nature can be found. In recent years, as part of our ‘Follow the Border’ tour, we have repeatedly travelled through the border region with Russia in Finland.
