A beautiful route—with a special bonus at the end for true off-road enthusiasts. There are some branches on the trail and a few washed-out sections, so keep an eye on your bumpers. Otherwise, the route is easy to navigate and offers plenty of opportunities for great photos. Highly recommended!

Visit to the Pottok Ponies
West of Pamplona towards the Atlantic coast, the mountains become lower and barely reach the 1,000-meter mark. But that doesn't mean that they become more boring for off-road fans. On the contrary: the forest paths that run through this region are quite challenging and offer plenty of driving fun.
The starting point of this tour is the town of Elgorriaga on the NA 170. Shortly after this, the asphalt road loses its surface and turns into an earthy track. It winds its way up through a green jungle in wide curves. The road surface is somewhere between earth and gravel and does not cause any difficulties.
At its apex, the route has a romantic viewpoint. The view sweeps far over the wooded hills of the Atlantic Pyrenees. However, you can usually not enjoy this idyll alone. Because soon the first curious onlookers appear - small brown and brown-and-white horses. Called Pottok ponies, they run semi-wild in the western Pyrenees and are considered a robust breed of horse. They were once used as smugglers' horses, but today the clever animals are mostly kept for pleasure.
The final stretch of the route takes place on a winding, easy downhill track. It ends in the pretty mountain village of Arantza.
