Just six kilometers east of Espolla as the crow flies, the continuation of the tour to Castell de Requesens begins in the village of Vilamaniscle. Vilamaniscle is located at an altitude of 169 meters on the foothills of the Albera massif. In the middle of the 18th century, 420 people lived in the pretty mountain village; today there are only 120, most of whom work on the coast in Figueres. The rest cultivate olive trees and vines around the village. In recent years, foreigners have settled in Vilamaniscle. They buy abandoned houses and renovate them. The village is now home to a diverse group of people.

Behind Vilamaniscle, the track begins down to the Mediterranean to the coastal town of Llança. The locals like to use it as a shortcut and it is also easy to do with normal vehicles without four-wheel drive. The only thing that needs to be taken into account is that the ground clearance should not be too low. At a height of 260 metres, the route passes the Coll de la Serra, crosses the Coll de les Portes (230 m) and then gradually descends towards the sea. A short detour takes you to a lonely chapel, then the coastal town of Llança approaches. On the outskirts of the town, the track meets the asphalt of the N 260.

A scenic track! We took the “Unterwegs” trail and really enjoyed it! However, if you’re looking for technically challenging trails, this isn’t the place for you ☺️ A quick detour to the chapel is worth it ☺️

A really great route, especially for the scenery. The description in the book matches the route. ⚠️ WARNING: This route is NOT accessible to trucks or vehicles wider than an MB Sprinter. This is due to several animal grates with side barriers and their weight capacity!

Nice trail. Very easy—there were just a few steep sections, but otherwise no special skills required. The best part is that you ride toward the Mediterranean Sea and get a great view.
