Ghost villages Albas and Alastrue
Yes, ghost villages again. And yes, a dead end too. Have you seen all of this before? Not at all. Because this tour from the Rio Ara up to the border of the Sierra de Guara nature reserve is different from the other ghost village tours, which also all have a different character. Our tour today leads through beautiful, sparse mixed forest and ends in a square between abandoned houses, which is fantastic for the night. So no excuse, start the engine and off we go.
From Boltaña we first take an asphalt road. It curves easily into the mountains and after about 18 kilometers reaches a gravel track that branches off to the left. We are now at an altitude of 1,200 meters. So the track leads downhill at first. Good to ride on fine gravel. At about 1,000 meters it gains altitude again, becomes rougher and, above all, narrower. Not suitable for wider vehicles than 4x4 campers.
The two abandoned villages of Albas and Alastrue follow one after the other. Both are good places to stay overnight, but the place in Albas is nicer.
