The Puig de Sant Gregori is a 1,090-meter-high mountain between the Pantà de Susqueda reservoir and the Ter river. Surrounded by several 800- and 900-meter-high peaks, it forms a real mountain range about 15 kilometers long and 10 kilometers wide. The good news: There are several gravel roads there just waiting to be explored.

The starting point is the Pantà de Susqueda dam. You can reach it by driving west from the valley of the Rio Ter or the C-63 road just three kilometers south of Amer. Shortly before the dam, turn left onto a lightly graveled forest path that climbs steadily from almost 300 meters in altitude over a distance of 13 kilometers to over 1,080 meters. Fun factor? Huge. Views? Some. Difficulty level? Medium. The track is wide enough and covered with medium-sized gravel, but the many switchbacks and some steep sections require a certain amount of off-road experience and an off-road vehicle with good ground clearance, i.e. a light to medium-weight four-wheel drive or a not too large touring enduro.

After the summit, which is also the pass of the Puig de Sant Gregori (1,083 m, footpath to the chapel), the route begins to descend into the valley. It does this via many curves and bends. Past the hamlet of Can Serra and a ruined village, the track continues to circle downhill, maintaining its decent surface and finally reaching the asphalt of the C-63 in la Cellera de Ter.
