There are two options for getting south from Agüeros to Luna. A reasonable and an unreasonable one. The reasonable option takes you around a wooded ridge on the A-1103 country road, the unreasonable option takes you over the ridge on gravel. Which option will the off-roader choose? Well, …

The off-road fun begins right at the edge of Agüeros. Our route first circles the fantastic rock formation of the Mallos de Agüeros, and after about one and a half kilometers we take the left turn at a fork. Dense mixed forest welcomes us. The track is nice and wide and well maintained. Two easy fords serve to warm up. We cross an asphalt road and notice that the track is now getting more difficult. Rough gravel, transverse gullies, longitudinal furrows, ledges. Good ground clearance is a requirement here. The trees are sometimes so close to the path that their branches brush against a car.

Downhill, the path becomes wider and more comfortable again. Then the mighty square tower of the Castillo de Obano comes into view. The military installation dates back to the 11th century. Its function was to secure the road between the cities of Huesca and Ejea de los Caballeros. Behind the castle, the route crosses the Arba de Biel river and meets asphalt shortly before Luna.
