Valpalmas is located at an altitude of almost 500 meters in the hilly landscape of the Pre-Pyrenees, halfway between Huesca and Ejea de los Caballeros. The town, which has a population of 140, is known for its so-called Aguarales, a bizarre stone formation that looks like a large pincushion. If you are already in the area, you should definitely pay them a visit. Nothing could be easier: a footpath leads from the car park to the Aquarales.

About four kilometers east of the town, a gravel road branches off to the north. We take it and are immediately in the middle of a recommendable little off-road adventure. The path constantly gains altitude and enters a wide forest area. Gradually the surface becomes rougher, and the odd gully throws itself in front of our tires. There are also stone steps and rough rocks, which means that our pulse is racing at times. A beautiful view awaits you below the 705-meter-high Pui Pureta, before we reach the highest point of the tour a few kilometers further on at an altitude of 731 meters in the middle of the forest.

The trail then becomes much more relaxed and curves leisurely down into the valley of the Rio Gàllego. Turn left and after one and a half kilometers you reach the town of Santa Eulalia.
