What could be better than a dip in the cool water after a long, hot day of off-roading? Nothing really. Well, maybe a beer with it. So - if you forego the beer, you can enjoy a wonderful swim at Pozo Pigalo. And not only that - this picturesque mountain lake with its turquoise water is surrounded by high rocks and is a real feast for the eyes. The fact that it can be reached via a beautiful gravel track makes it even more fun.

Starting point Luesia. The wide gravel road that branches off on the western edge of the town takes us quickly along the Rio Arba de Luesia to the Pozo Pigalo car park around six kilometers away. There used to be five grain mills in the valley, the remains of which can be seen today. This valley was once also the scene of confrontations between smugglers and gendarmes. The lake is in the middle of the Santo Domingo Nature Park, which means that an entrance fee is payable in summer. No matter - it's worth it. The campsite near the lake, which is only open in summer, is also a good tip.

With magnificent views of the highest elevation in the nature reserve at 1,525 metres, the path now winds along the edge of the Santo Domingo massif until the culmination point of the tour is reached at an altitude of 1,067 metres below the Pui Solano. It now goes downhill quickly, a handful of switchbacks provide some variety, then the route meets the town of Longàs and the asphalt in the Onsella valley.
