We wanted to ride these beautiful trails again, but once we got there, we noticed the “No Entry” sign (as mentioned in the comment below). Translated, this essentially means: “Access by motorcycles, quads, ATVs, and non-electric buggies is prohibited year-round for noise protection reasons.” This is confirmed by another “No Entry” sign for quads and motorcycles. We were probably lucky last year that we were still allowed to drive in. The fact is, it is no longer legal to ride two-wheeled vehicles on this route.

Nature Park Alt Pirineu
Fed up of hairy serpentines, dizzying views, steep ramps? Then the route through the northern part of the Alt Pirineu Nature Park is just the thing. A wide, well-maintained gravel track crosses a vast forest area and is a perfect mix of relaxed off-road driving fun and enjoying nature.
The track begins at the Refugi del Fornet at an altitude of 1,374 meters. You can reach it from the Vall d’Aneu on road no. 147 from the town of Esterri d’Aneu. The easy-to-drive gravel path meanders along a stream in sometimes narrow, sometimes wide curves. A small serpentine section uphill follows, after which the path becomes a little narrower and finally reaches the turnoff up to Refugi Amics de Montgarri at an altitude of 1,648 meters (around one kilometer). The perfect place for a rest.
Back at the turnoff, the wider track continues to the right towards the valley. The final stop is the town of Baqueira in the valley of the river Arriu de Ruda.

You have to pay €5 admission. It was pretty and the people in the park were friendly. Nice restaurant at Montgarri.
The route is closed to motorized vehicles from 1 July. The nice man at the Rifugi told us this, but didn't give us an end date.
Nice route. Just as described.
