Ski lifts are not only interesting for skiers. This is confirmed in the case of the lift on the Planiska Koca na Javornika high alpine pasture. A clean, comfortable gravel track leads up there, at the end of which you can stop off at a traditional hut and enjoy a fantastic panorama.

Coming from Kalce on road no. 621, you drive through Hrušika, turn right in the next village, Mlake, and follow the signpost to Mount Javornik. A forest path winds its way uphill, alternating between fine and coarse gravel. Initially relatively wide, it narrows over time. After just under six kilometers, there are two detours: first up to the right to a ski lift, then straight up to the Pirnatova Koca na Janvornika mountain hut. Built in 1952, the hiking hut is at an altitude of 1,156 meters and spoils its guests with delicious Slovenian cuisine and a great panorama. A short footpath connects the hut with the peak of Javornik (1,241 m).

The journey continues downhill on an easy, wide forest track until road no. 207 marks the end of the gravel road. Turning left, after about six kilometers, you reach the village of Col.

Conditions, closures and tips — from members who drove here recently.

The trail follows well-maintained gravel paths that aren’t too narrow. The hut was no longer open at this time of year. The path to the summit is somewhat steep and rocky. There is an observation tower at the top. But even from there, you don’t get a panoramic view. The entire route is nice, but certainly not worth 5 stars, as indicated here.
