Tracks north of Tara Canyon

Anyone who wants to follow the course of the Tara River upstream as closely as possible from the famous Đurđevića Tara Bridge has two options. Either take the R 10 road, which hugs the Tara fairly tightly and offers beautiful views of the river, or venture slightly eastward along a natural track that, while a few kilometers away from the Tara, leads through a completely remote mountain region. Even though views of the Tara Valley are limited, this route is a revelation for those seeking tranquility.
From the bridge, head north on the M 6 for a short distance, then turn right just before Kosanica onto a narrow asphalt road that slowly but steadily climbs into the mountains. Along the way, don’t miss the opportunity to take a right-hand detour to visit a small but charming Orthodox monastery named Dovolja. Meanwhile, the main track winds its way up and down toward the southeast. Its surface constantly changes—sometimes gravel, sometimes dirt, and occasionally patchy asphalt. This variety ensures plenty of driving fun and excitement. Shortly before reaching Mekića Kula, the track transitions back to asphalt—welcome back to civilization.
