The Sinjajevina is a mountain range in northern Montenegro, stretching diagonally southeast from Žabljak to Kolašin. It spans 40 kilometers in length and 15 kilometers in width. Geologically, the Sinjajevina is a high-altitude plateau at approximately 1,600 meters, dominated by a few peaks. The highest of these is Jablanov vrh, which rises to 2,277 meters. Around 250 families live here on the largest alpine pastures in the Balkans and the second-largest in Europe, without electricity, running water, or paved roads.
This lack of infrastructure is music to the ears of off-road enthusiasts—surely, there must be some excellent gravel routes to explore. And indeed, there are. One example is a north-to-south crossing of the Sinjajevina.
The journey begins in Gornja Dobrilovina, on the banks of the Tara River. Right away, the off-road fun kicks off as a gravel track climbs the mountain in tight switchbacks. The surface is solid, and the views down to the Tara are breathtaking. Once on the plateau, take a left turn in the hamlet of Zaboj toward the lake of the same name. After about a kilometer of natural trail, you’ll find yourself at a picture-perfect scene—tall fir trees reflecting in the crystal-clear water of the small lake.
Back on the main trail, the route continues across the plateau on a mix of good and less-than-perfect gravel and dirt tracks. It passes through the hamlets of Konate, Šaransko Polje, Polje Bijelića, Ječiša, and Bare. A few downhill switchbacks later, you’ll reach the Tušinja Valley. From there, turn left onto an asphalt road toward Krnja Jela, marking the end of the tour.

The track is barely used; I'd rate it as being in excellent condition.
