About 20 kilometers east of Podgorica rises a mountain range that serves as the perfect counterpart to the loud, stressful capital of Montenegro – the Kučka krajina. It connects to the southern side of the Komovi mountain range and is bordered by Albania to the east. The melting glaciers of the last ice age carved out an immense high plateau from the karst rock, with individual mountains rising like artificially created eye-catchers. Their sharp edges, white glaciers, green valleys, and blue lakes are a feast for the eyes. The crowning glory of the Kučka krajina consists of its five picturesque glacial lakes.
So it’s no surprise that a journey through the remote Kučka krajina becomes a visual highlight. One that also doesn’t skimp on off-road fun. The tour is challenging, presenting us with rough gravel, narrow forest paths, steep ascents and descents, as well as tight switchbacks.
Starting from Podgorica, you head north, passing through the villages of Medun and Ubli, and after about 40 kilometers, you reach gravel at an elevation of 1,550 meters. A short descent follows, then you ascend to a pass at 1,769 meters. Another descent takes you down to around 1,300 meters. In the valley, a path branches off to the left toward the Rikavacko glacial lake, the largest of the five lakes. The path then rises again, this time to 1,850 meters, where the next pass awaits. After one last descent, you reach Korita, where the gravel ends. Just about 30 kilometers more, and you’ll circle back in Podgorica.

Impressive track with incredible views. We rode it the other way round and would prefer to do it the other way round, contrary to the description. This track deserves six stars compared to the "track through the national park", for example.
