My first track of this kind. The route is easy to drive; I can confirm the coarse gravel at the beginning, the hairpin turns can all be navigated without maneuvering, and there are also passing spots for oncoming traffic—though I was alone on the mountain. Great views on the way up and at the top of the plateau; the descent is mostly through the forest. Later on, though, you can see Rijeka Bay and the island of Cres. Few branches in the way, so almost no scratches. On the descent, there was a 30-cm step and a deep longitudinal groove—my passenger had to guide me through those sections.

Hairpins in Učka Park
The 17 km long route leads first up to the famous Ucka National Park and then down to the beautiful Istrian coast. With views of the Ucka peak, the peninsula and the Kvarner Bay.
The entry point is on the 500 near Nova Vas. The rocky track winds uphill with many bends. You drive along the slope on a bumpy gravel track and look out over wide fields and the sea. The view is fantastic. There is a launch pad for paragliders on a rocky plateau covered only with a few bushes. Here you can enjoy the peace and quiet in untouched nature. After the plateau, the route continues downhill through the forest. The narrow gravel track ends in the town of Sveta Jelena, where it leads onto a small tarmac road at the first houses. Rolling out onto the coastline with its wonderful bathing bays on rugged rocks and turquoise, crystal-clear water rounds off the tour.

The gravel is very coarse at first. But don’t let that put you off. The trail looks a bit “rough” at the start, but it’s passable in any off-road vehicle. The hairpin turns and the route in general look very narrow at times. As I said… I made it in a Ranger Raptor with wheel spacers. So don’t worry.
‼️UPDATE‼️ The road has been upgraded. It’s still gravel, but it’s been graded and is now three times as wide as when I first drove on it. The view is still spectacularly beautiful.
A really nice route! At the start, follow the signs to Novi Vas. The climb looks well-maintained, but has coarse gravel. Overall, a beautiful route.
