Capo Boi
At the southeastern tip of Sardinia, a very short but exciting off-road loop awaits us. It circles Capo Boi, east of the seaside resort of Solanas, in just two kilometers. Why is this short drive worthwhile? First, because of the breathtaking views from the steep cliffs down to the sea and the Capo Carbonara headland. Second, because of the challenging terrain. And third, because the cape's exposed location makes you feel like you're on the deck of an ocean liner.
The start and end of this short tour are on the SP 17 between Solanas and Villasimius. The track is moderately wide and characterized by a mix of coarse and sometimes deep gravel, interspersed with scree and rocky sections. The route features steep ascents and descents, often skirting the edge of a precipice, making the drive both thrilling and demanding. Vigilance and a gentle touch on the accelerator are therefore essential.
A stop at the historic Torre di Capo Boi, which can be reached via a short walk, is worthwhile. Otherwise, the beautiful sandy beach of Solanas is always worth a visit.
