A beautiful, long off-road route with breathtaking views! The route is easy to navigate and offers a fantastic experience for anyone who loves adventure and impressive mountain landscapes. We spent the night there at a beautiful spot we found through Park4Night, which made the experience absolutely perfect. We purchased the permit at Bar Trutalli Paolo (Via Roma). The woman who helped us speaks only Italian, so it’s handy to have the Google Translate app on hand. With the translation app, everything went smoothly. We drove the entire route without any problems in a Land Rover Defender 90 with a small off-road trailer, which proves that the route is manageable even with a trailer, provided you have sufficient driving experience. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to explore the Passo di Dordona in a 4x4!

Passo di Dordona
There is no regular crossing between the Valtellina village of Fusine and the winter sports resort of Foppolo above the Valle Brembana. Especially not a paved one. If you are willing to make the effort and obtain a special permit (for EUR 5.00 from the municipal administration), you can take the gravel road over the Passo di Dordona.
The first 800 meters in altitude have to be taken through a wooded area and have some tight hairpin bends. After that, the condition of the track is quite rough and only suitable for fans of rough gravel surfaces. The northern ramp is around 20 kilometers long. From the top of the pass, the descent to Foppolo is around five kilometers.

Conditions, closures and tips — from members who drove here recently.
We were unable to obtain the special permit to drive the route from the municipal office; instead, we purchased it at Bar Pasticceria Libera in 23010 Berbenno di Valtellina, SO (coordinates: 46.16151851689238, 9.743493299194771). The bar’s hours are: Monday–Saturday: 5:30 AM–2:00 PM and 5:00 PM–7:30 PM; Sunday: 6:00 AM–12:00 PM. Otherwise, the pass was easy to navigate. A stop at Rifugio Dordona is definitely worth it https://rifugiodordona.com/. Rifugio Dordona is open 24/7. Since early summer 2024, the rifugio has been under new management. We had a very pleasant “drink stop.” Trial rider Erica Bianchi looks after the guests’ well-being. Motorcyclists are therefore very welcome.
https://alpenrouten.de/Dordona-Passo-di_point1664.html A narrow, partly unpaved road leads over the Passo di Dordona, connecting the town of Fusine (N) in Valtellina with the winter sports resort of Foppolo (S) and the Brembana Valley. The longest section of the approximately 20-km route is part of the approach to the north ramp and runs largely along the valley. The south ramp, on the other hand, is rather short at 4 km, but also only covers an elevation gain of about 400 m. The upper part of the trail features sections with loose coarse gravel as well as short steep sections with gradients of up to approx. 18%, but offers a very beautiful high-alpine landscape. At the summit, there are the remains of an Italian fortification from the First World War. It’s also worth stopping at the Baita Dordona, located along the route.
