Tracks south of Lago Lerno
To get from Benetutti to Pattada south of Lake Lerno, the average citizen takes the state and provincial roads that lead around the Monte Abba Idorzu mountain range. What does the off-roader do? Instead, he chooses the track that connects both places directly over the mountains. Because it is not only visually impressive, but also ensures excitement on the handlebars and behind the wheel with its anything but easy track. Several steep passages, tight bends and turns, holes, ruts and gullies guarantee that you will never get bored. It can also get quite narrow here in the truest sense of the word. But that's what we want.
As in the entire area around the town of Buddosò, the gray and white granite is mined in immense quarries near Benetutti. The route starts here, gradually winding its way up on medium-coarse gravel and crossing a dense oak forest. Once you reach the high plateau of Monte Abba Idorzu, the route follows the 1,000-meter mark for a while and then descends towards Lake Lerno. The destination, the town of Pattada, is idyllically situated on a hill on the southern flank of the Limbara massif, as if it had come straight out of a fairy tale. Pattada is famous for the "Resolza", a finely crafted knife that is made by hand in the workshops along the roads.
