Swimming pool at Flumineddu
About seven kilometers south of Dorgali, an easy-to-drive track branches off to a beautiful natural swimming pool. Just the thing on a hot day. In addition, the gravel road with its good surface is a lot of fun and offers great panoramas over to the reddish cliffs of the almost 700 meter high Supramonte di Dorgali.
From the SS 125, the route scurries down the slope from a height of 616 meters in great curves and bends. After about four kilometers, it crosses a stream bed, then drops only slightly and finally reaches the turquoise shimmering bathing areas of the Flumineddu river at a height of around 200 meters. This crosses the Gennargentu mountains horizontally over a length of 60 kilometers and flows into the Flumendosa. It is known throughout the region for its many wonderful swimming pools.
On the way back, it is worth stopping at the fairy tomb Domus da Janas Biduai. These are burial chambers carved into the rocks from the period 2000 to 3000 BC. Although they are relatively small, they are usually artistically and carefully crafted.
