Sorgente “S’Ulidone e susu”
In Baronia, the "middle land" between Nuoro and Gallura, there is an imposing limestone formation whose white gorges, dark caves, deep abysses and high mountains reveal a Sardinia of panoramas. This is Monte Albo, a 20-kilometer-long ridge whose name comes from the light color of the rock. Many bad guys once hid in its caves, as evidenced by the discovery of daggers and swords in the Bona Fraule cave. Today, Monte Albo serves far more peaceful purposes: its karst springs are used to fetch water and as picnic areas.
This is also the case with the Sorgente S'Ulidone e Susu spring on the western flank of Monte Albo. A pleasant dirt road, which the locals also use with normal cars, leads up to it (804 m). It does so in a pleasant way. The track is wide, finely graveled and has no traps. A few serpentines and curves scattered throughout ensure plenty of off-road fun. The journey down into the valley is also completely relaxed, allowing you to perfectly enjoy the many views of the coast.
