Sand tracks
The Pineta di Is Arenas forest area is located on the northwestern tip of the Sinis peninsula. Its pines and acacias were planted in the 1950s to stop the dunes from advancing inland. This was successful, although a wide belt of sand remains to the east of the forest.
This is the destination of a short but intensive off-road tour. To do this, turn left onto the SP 10 north of Riola Sardo, follow it for four and a half kilometers and then turn right onto a dirt road. This quickly turns into a perfect desert track. Wide and sandy, it curves along the edge of the forest area and is a hell of fun. At the end it meets a small asphalt road that leads to the right to the SS 292. To the left is the Golf, Lodging and Beach Club Is Arenas. So if you happen to have your golf clubs with you, go for it.
