We drove the trail from Gonnesa to Iglesias. It was very scenic and challenging, but in some places the vegetation was quite overgrown. Vehicles with a height of 2.5 meters or more are likely to have significant trouble here. Shortly before Villagio Asproni, there is a fairly difficult climb that can only be managed with proper off-road vehicles. However, there is the option to bypass it via a very overgrown path. From Iglesias, access to Villagio is possible without any problems.

Ghost village and old mines
The Villaggio Asproni is an abandoned mining village in the Sulcis-Iglesiente region near the town of Iglesias. It was built at the end of the 19th century during the Sardinian mining era and was named after the engineer and then director of the mine, Giorgio Asproni. The buildings in the Villaggio Asproni are typical of Sardinian mining villages: simple stone houses, warehouses and workshops testify to the hard work and simple life of the miners. There are well-preserved residential buildings, a school and administrative buildings. Today the Villaggio Asproni is abandoned and increasingly falling into disrepair, which gives it a melancholic, almost mystical aura. The old weathered walls, the grounds overgrown with vegetation and the quiet, remote location make the village a unique witness to Sardinian mining history.
This cultural monument can be beautifully explored on a gravel tour that starts southwest of Iglesias on the SS 130. The road that turns south is pleasant due to its easy-to-drive surface of medium-sized gravel and a decent road surface. In the middle section it rises quite steeply to a height of 272 meters, but does not cause any difficulties. It is wide enough that even large expedition trucks can manage on it. The route ends at the Gonessa motocross track.
