The Traversia is actually a long-distance hiking trail that crosses the Gennargentu Mountains in the south from west to east over a length of around 60 kilometers. Impressive and challenging in equal measure, it is considered one of the best hiking trails on the island. The good news: The Traversia is partly accompanied by an off-road route. Strewn with narrow passages, rocks and roots, it is no less demanding than the hiking trail. It leads to the most remote regions of Sardinia and, at almost 30 kilometers long, is one of the longest trails on the island. The best conditions for a successful off-road adventure.

It starts in the town of Patiolla on the SS 387. There we take the SP 14 north for three kilometers and turn right onto a gravel track in a sharp left turn. The first few kilometers are relatively harmless, but then things get serious: the path winds steeply, narrowly and on a rough surface into the mountains. Tough climbs and descents ensure that all eyes are focused on what is happening in front of the hood or the front wheel. At some point the track reaches a mountain ridge, which it follows for a while. Finally, it plunges down into the valley of a small stream, and after another tough climb it reaches the town of Burcei, the end of this off-road adventure.
