It’s still free for now, but you’ll have to pay €5 starting around mid-June. But even that is worth it. It’s an easy to intermediate but very beautiful trail. There are campsites everywhere. The valley is amazing, but very touristy. I wouldn’t go there in July or August. Oh, and be sure to buy some cheese at the farm—it’s delicious!
Valle Argentera
On this 28 km tour through the Argentera Valley, you always have the river Ripa in view. South of Sestiere on the SP 23 R, the spur route first leads through the idyllic valley to an impressive plateau.
At the SP 215, the route begins at the entry point to Valle Argentera at a bridge. The gravel road runs parallel to the riverbed of the Ripa, with its small waterfalls, alongside the forest. First you pass a derelict ruin. Now you reach Brusa del Plan, a few stone houses with a beautiful little chapel surrounded by wide meadows. Continue straight ahead along the track, crossing several bridges, until the last section climbs steeply up through the forest. From the Piano Milizie plateau with its fantastic views, a narrow, very stony path leads to the Gran Mioul, a typical mountain pasture with traditional cheese production. An enchanting place with spectacular scenery, small mountain lakes and cow pastures. The route leads back downhill towards Alpe de Plan, another lovely rifugio to stop off at. This is followed by a challenging, rocky and scree-like section down to the river. After crossing the river, the straight route leads back through the valley to the starting point at Sauze die Cesana.

The route can be driven to the very top with the right vehicle. Camp spots on the river or further up are a dream. 5€ for the service and the fantastic camp spots is absolutely ridiculously low ✌️ Lg Pit
At the time of the ride, there is now a barrier right at the entrance to the route (by the bridge). Take a ticket at the entrance, payment of €5 is only made at the exit in the ticket booth right next door. In return, free camping seems to be allowed due to the many tents and camper vans in the whole area. The 5 euros seem well spent to me, the area is really beautiful.
At the bridge you have to buy a ticket for the entrance. It costs 5 euros. Very beautiful route with lots of great camping spots along the river.
Please do not ride down the steep section from Alpen de Plan. The farmer was not happy about it and asked us not to. There is also a "No Entry" sign at the bottom.
