Rifugio la Riposa
A beautiful 42 km long, relaxed tour with two stitches. The start and end point is located above Susa, on the SS 25. From the valley, the route leads high up into the imposing mountain world of the Alps near the French border.
From Susa, after a steep ascent on a tarred road, you reach the gravel road. This winds its way up the mountains in many tight bends past small villages. The first destination after the wide gravel road section with its beautiful scenery is the Rufugio la Riposa. The refuge with picnic benches invites you to take a break and enjoy the magnificent mountain panorama. This is also the starting point for a challenging hike to the summit of Rocciamelone, one of the Alps' three and a half thousand meter peaks. The highest sanctuary in Europe is located on its peak. A spectacular view awaits you. A bronze statue of the Madonna stands on large rocks. From the Rifugio, you return to the first stitch, which leads to the charming mountain village of Tour with a few stone houses and a small chapel with a fountain and benches. A narrow path leads from the main road into the next short branch to the Rifugio il Truc with its lovely restaurant. It is also worth taking this detour for a breathtaking view over the entire Susa Valley. The tour ends with a leisurely downhill roll back to Susa.
