This leisurely 30 km circular tour leads through a lot of forest and the impressive Alpine nature of Piedmont. The start and finish is the village of Chiomonte on the SS 24 near Susa.
From Chiomonte, a small, uneven road leads to the start of the gravel road. From here, the route is very winding up through woodland. Partly over clearings past the villages of Eteizane and Foin, as well as some dilapidated houses and picnic spots in the midst of beautiful nature. At the ski resort of Frais, the route leads over a small section of tarmac road onto a gravel track again. Continue up through the beautiful coniferous forest towards Alpe d'Arguel, with a few picnic benches along the way. There are ruins and a small stone cottage selling cheese on a plateau with a wonderful view. The same route back now leads via Frais. At the end of the village, the route continues on gravel through the idyllic forest. With beautiful views of clusters of houses built on the mountain, the road leads downhill on partly paved hairpin bends. There are some nice restaurants and bars around Chiomonte that invite you to linger after the tour.
