We first rode the route on our mountain bikes, starting from the ridge (Chiesa di San Salvatore). I’ve ridden it a total of 3–4 times. This time, however, the trail was much worse than the last time in April 2024. Among other things, there was a small rockfall that currently narrows the trail so much that only a quad bike can barely get through. In addition, the route toward Monte Faudo has deteriorated significantly since then. A few heavy rainstorms have apparently washed out the trail quite a bit, so we even had to push our MTBs. Coming from the east, the route should be much more rideable.

Community report Oct. 2024: .. traveled from east to west, difficulties due to forest fires and landslides...classification should be rather "difficult"!
The 19 km route in western Liguria, north of the beautiful coastal road SS1 between the towns of Castellaro and Bellissimi, initially follows the Taggia River inland.
To start, head from the center of Castellaro, following the signs to Santuario di Lampedusa. The trail begins above this beautifully painted baroque church, which offers a magnificent view of the Argentina Valley from its terrace. Unfortunately, for motorcyclists, the route ends before the church, as further access for motorized two-wheelers is prohibited. After passing through the right archway, the trail starts after 100 meters. The path ascends, with the surface being scattered with stones and some washouts. After a stretch of gravel, there is a rough section with loose stones and rubble. Passing by grazing fields, keep left. The road leads into a dead-end road that takes you to the viewpoint at Monte Faudo. The panoramic view from the summit is stunning. High above the Passo di Vena and Passo Bastia, a wide gravel road, in good condition, takes you through a forest section. The final part of the trail is paved, and you roll down to the endpoint of the tour, the small chapel of Santa Brigida, which has some picnic benches.
