Forte Sommo Alto - CLOSED!!!

This short, relaxed tour connects Passo Coe and Passo Sommo. The Forte Sommo Alto is located along the route and is well worth seeing. The route is 7 km long from the SP 143 to the SS 350.

The starting point is at Passo Coe on the SP 143. The gravel road begins next to the road at a parking lot. It goes uphill to the large Forte Sommo Alto. The lower part of the ruins, with several tunnels and passages, can be visited. Around the fortress, you can enjoy fantastic views of the breathtaking landscape of Trentino in the tranquillity of nature. The easily passable track continues downhill over fine gravel, with beautiful views of the surrounding villages and the wonderful pine forests. The Rifugio Stella d'Italia is well worth a break. With good food and friendly hospitality, you can look down into the valley and over to the summit of Monte Stivo from the terrace. In the final section, the route winds through a section of forest and ends at the SS 350 at Passo Sommo.
