After the village of Faup, the real adventure begins: The road continues as a gravel nature track. Then it becomes truly challenging: The last nearly ten kilometers head south in a winding zigzag path along bare rock passages, leading up to Port d’Aula. At 2257 meters, it is one of the highest accessible points in the French Pyrenees.

Closure or obstruction

The road is currently closed. I spoke to a local farmer, and she said that the authorities have closed the road because there is a family of bears near the Cole parking lot and they want to minimize disturbances. It is unknown when it will reopen
