Easy access. The first section is paved, narrow, and steep. Then a gravel road—rocky and dusty. At the top, it’s paved again, leading to a magnificent view.

Monte Colombis
The 16 km adventurous route starts in Espinasses, nestled in the beautiful Durance Valley, and leads up into the stunning French mountain landscape. The endpoint is Mont Colombis, offering a fantastic panoramic viewpoint.
The tour begins on the D900. First, head towards the village of Espinasses. Above the village, a narrow gravel road winds up the slope in tight curves. Once you reach a straight section of road, a breathtaking panoramic view opens up, showcasing the mountains and the shimmering Lac de Serre-Poncon. The path continues along a rock face, passing a few houses. In the next section, the road is littered with rain pits.
At a clearing, you’ll find beautiful picnic spots right along the route, inviting you to take a rest and enjoy the unspoiled nature. Continuing on, the winding road becomes steeper, passing through a dense forest. At another clearing, you’ll reach a small chapel surrounded by pine trees. Here, the gravel track joins a paved road. The final stretch is a steep climb up to the viewpoint at Mont Colombis, where you’ll experience a magnificent 360-degree view of the mountain landscape, its valleys, and the lake.
To return to the valley near the Durance, simply retrace your steps along the same route.
