Croix du Vallon
The 7 km route leads up into the rocky mountain landscape to the Croix de Vallon. The path takes you through vast meadows and mountain slopes, with peaks rising dramatically in jagged spires.
The starting point of the tour is at Saint-Apollinaire, above Lac de Serre-Poncon. From the D9, you turn onto a bumpy, grass-covered track. The first section of the route winds uphill over rocky terrain and a narrower stretch. The views along the way are spectacular. You'll soon reach the D609, where you continue a short distance along this paved road, passing a small holiday village. After a ski station, a wide gravel track begins, leading further uphill over the expansive mountain slopes. The track becomes increasingly littered with larger stones.
Once you reach the Croix de Vallon, you'll be rewarded with an incredible mountain panorama. From the path, you can walk to a fantastic viewpoint surrounded by rocks and a few trees. The Table d’orientation offers breathtaking views of the reservoir in the valley and the mountain massif with its dark, jagged peaks.
To return, you follow the same route downhill back to the D9. From here, you can take the D41 to the reservoir, where you'll find the impressive Pont de Savines, which connects the stunning lake with the opposite shore.
