Beautiful route, and everything was just as described.

Col du Farguet
This adventurous 29 km tour at the Italian border offers breathtaking views as it winds through the beautiful mountain landscape. With numerous ascents and descents on pleasant gravel roads, it’s an experience to remember.
The tour begins near Sospel on the D 2566. It starts with a climb through a few rows of houses and olive groves on a paved road. Shortly after, the path transitions into a wide gravel road, initially passing through a forest before leading into a treeless slope. The view over the valley and Sospel is spectacular. The track continues with switchbacks through another wooded area, eventually meeting the D 54.
The narrow road descends through rocky terrain dotted with solitary trees. After several hundred meters, another gravel road begins, offering great panoramic views. This wide, slightly dusty section is very easy to navigate. A side trip leads to the Col de Farguet, which has a picnic area. A break here amidst the stunning mountain scenery is well worth it.
The last section descends through alpine landscapes, climbs again past an old barracks, and winds down through forests alongside steep mountain slopes. The gravel track here features loose rocks and rough stones. The tour ends at the paved D 21 road, which leads to the D 2204 and the town of L’Escarène. There, you’ll find small traditional restaurants and various shops lining the main street.
