Between Gramsh and Gjerbës
East of the Tomorr National Park, there’s an offroad track that initially runs along a ridge southeast between the Devoll River and the national park, before turning south over the mountains into the Tomorrica Valley. While the route generally presents no significant challenges, certain sections are so narrow that only motorcycles or standard offroad vehicles can pass through.
Starting point: From Gramsh, drive about two kilometers south on the SH 71, then turn right off the main road. Cross a stream twice, ascend on a paved road, and at the village of Nartë, switch permanently to gravel. The gravel surface is in good condition—not too rough—and makes for an enjoyable drive. This allows you to take in the stunning views to the west of the Tomorr Massif at your leisure. Occasionally, a narrow section along a steep slope might cause a bit of a nervous sweat, but the track eventually descends gracefully into the Tomorrica Valley.
At the river, you’ll need to tackle the steps and coarse rocks of the ford, where a vehicle with good ground clearance is essential. A handful of additional, easy-to-drive gravel kilometers follow, and then the tour concludes in Gjerbës.
