If you document your off-road adventures, you know the challenge: either you concentrate fully on the journey or you make sure that the camera captures the right thing at the right moment. It's not easy to do both at the same time. With the new 360° technology from Insta360, it's much more relaxed without losing focus from driving.

Since the beginning of 2025, our moto scouts have been using two different cameras to document their off-road routes. Previously, they mainly used an action cam, the Insta360 Ace Pro 2, attached to the side of the helmet. It delivers beautiful dynamic shots of the motorcycle cockpit and the track ahead. The automatic image stabilization is really unbeatable. With this action cam, we no longer have any blurred shots, even on extreme off-road routes.

But since this year, we have also been using the Insta360 X4 360° camera. These are real game changers, especially when it comes to motorcycles. These cameras film in all directions at the same time. When I'm off-road myself, I simply attach them to the side of my touring enduro bike.

Later, we edit the footage during stopovers or at camp with just a few clicks in the Insta360 app on our cell phone.

With the Insta360 X4, we can have the video look ahead onto the trail, then pan to the rider and the bike, and - if it's worth it - further back. We can also include landscapes at the side of the road. The camera is constantly recording everything.

These are of course super features for off-roaders. You no longer have to worry about filming at all and can concentrate fully on the route. And the post-production options are fantastic: an easy-to-create cocktail of slow pans and dynamic short cuts gets the exact feeling of the respective track across.

For off-road vehicles, we have been using the Action Cam as a pure front camera to film the track since this year. With the 360° camera, we can also produce very dynamic footage, including of the chassis. To do this, we attach the 360° camera to the underbody of our vehicle using a magnetic mount.

But regardless of the angle, the images from our Insta360 cameras are razor-sharp. They are so good that we can even publish still images from the videos in our printed publications. It seems we're about to enter a new era when it comes to video documentation. Take a look at what we've put together with the Insta360 X4.
