Our 4x4 vehicle outfitter: Ullstein Concepts

Would you like to optimize your 4x4 vehicle? We felt very similar some time ago. Some time ago, we had chosen the maneuverable Suzuki Jimny as an off-road vehicle for exploring unknown tracks. Its short wheelbase, good ground clearance and relatively low price for a 4x4 vehicle had convinced us. The Jimny was therefore exactly the right off-road vehicle for our trail scouting tours.

However, the standard model lacked some of the features that are required when exploring rough terrain: Underride guard, roof rack, front protection bar, cable winch and off-road headlights. Thanks to insider tips from our community, we came across Ullstein Concepts GmbH during our search for suppliers. We have not regretted it.

At the time, we were looking for a partner who could make our Jimny even more off-road capable and an all-round overlander. He also had to be competent and reliable. Of course, good customer service was also important to us. Roberto from Ullstein Concepts quickly convinced us of the latter. Not only did he take a lot of time for us, his advice was also tailored to our individual needs and preferences.

Instead of trying to convince us of the most expensive offers from his company's product range, he advised us on the ones that were best suited to our purposes. The parts are really good. They proved their worth on our production tours in Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia, Montenegro and Albania. For a family business that has been on the market for 30 years, we expected nothing less.

Ullstein Concepts cooperates with well-known manufacturers such as Milwaukee Tools from the USA, the European Strands Lighting Division and the Australian companies Saber and TJM 4x4 Equipped. When it comes to roof racks, the company relies on the renowned suppliers Yakima and PDE (Prime Design Europe). These names are well-known in specialist circles and stand for quality. No wonder we have only had the best experiences with the additional equipment for our Jimny.

We were lucky that Jens Wassermann lives very close to the Offroad Atlas headquarters. He is a specialist in off-road technology and is one of the founding members of our Offroad Atlas Xplore crew. At the time, he offered to upgrade our Suzuki Jimny in his own workshop.

So we didn't have to drive all the way to Langenbach near Munich to have our little Jimny spruced up in the Ullstein Concepts workshop. Jens completed the installation of the various accessories in no time at all. Here is a list of the individual products he installed for us:

• Aluminum roof rack YAKIMA LockNLoad TrimHD for clamping: Our new roof rack is not only easy to install, it is also highly resilient, reduces wind noise and can improve aerodynamics.
• Complete set of underride guards for Suzuki Jimny: galvanized, powder-coated steel sheets protect the engine and transmission as well as the differentials, fuel tank and transfer case. They also act as corrosion protection and can reduce driving noise.
• Front protection concept Suzuki Jimny GJ pure BLACK, stainless steel: The front protection bar from Ullstein Concepts' in-house production is not only stylish and solid, but also offers mounting points for a winch, additional headlights or light bars. The front bars from Ullstein Concepts come with an E-mark and therefore no longer have to go through the TÜV.
• Electric cable winch 12V - TJM TORQ 4000 lb ATV Winch: With the 12 volt cable winch from Ullstein Concepts, we can free ourselves from stuck situations without outside help. It has up to 1.815 tons of pulling force, comes with 12 meters of synthetic rope and can be easily attached to the front protection bar for the Suzuki Jimny.
• Off-road headlights from Strands - SIBERIA XPA Driving Light 7": Two-in-one solution for off-road use and for use on public roads. The LED auxiliary headlights with E-approval provide a visibility range of around 340 meters on the asphalt as a high beam. Off-road, we can switch their output to Xperience mode with 5,710 lumens. Then night becomes day.

The family-run company is based in Langenbach near Munich and employs 29 people. They have many years of experience in the development or assembly of accessories for pickups and commercial vehicles. In addition to the sale and installation of hardtops, load compartment covers, styling parts, roof racks and drawer pull-outs from its own production, Ullstein Concepts also carries out complete special conversions. The products manufactured by the company and its trading partners are available for vehicle brands such as Ford, Nissan, Suzuki, Toyota, Volkswagen and other well-known brands.

One of the company's departments specializes in the design and development of innovative product solutions for special customer groups such as vets, forestry businesses and hunters. These special projects are manufactured and tested in the company's own workshop once the planning phase is complete.
