Las Vegas Dunes National Recreation Area

Description: 
Dry desert sand and hills just north of Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, NV. This area, sometimes called Nellis Dunes, is owned by the BLM and is open to all off-road equipment (4 wheelers, dirt bikes, and licensed vehicles). Trails range from easy to difficult.

Truckhaven

in
Description: 
Truckhaven is a HUGE 4 Wheeling area on the west side of the Salton Sea near Salton City CA. Truckhaven is in Imperial County, northwest of the intersection of Hwy S22 and Hwy 86. Most people enter the area by taking N. Marina Blvd west from Hwy 86. Continue west past the residential area on N. Marina until the pavement ends then continue on the dirt. The area is bounded on the west by Anza Borrego Desert State Park, on the south by Hwy S22 on the east by Hwy 86 and on the north by Big Wash. Difficulty Level for the area range from 1 - 4 . Wide variety of desert terrain.

Pinyon Mountain Trail

Description: 
This trail includes the "Squeeze" and "Heart Attach Hill" . (The Squeeze will not accomodate full size vehicles and there are no alternative routes.) Directions to Pinyon Mountain Trail: From El Cajon CA (I8 & 67) Take Hwy 67 north to Ramona. Take Hwy 78 to Santa Ysabel. Take Hwy 79 north to S2 (San Felipe Rd). Take S2 south to Hwy 78. At Hwy 78 Jog to the right about 200 yards and continue on S2 about 4.5 miles. Just past the Stage Coach Campground turn left (east) on dirt trail. Pinyon Mountain Trail. Trailhead GPS Coordinates – Datum WGS84 N33 03.415 W116 25.238 Caution: This trail will lead to very remote areas. Be sure to have adequate water and do not travel with a single vehicle. People have died of thirst and exposure in this area because of breakdowns. Difficulty Rating 2 to 2+

Corn Springs

in
Description: 
California, take I-10 from either Blythe going west or from Indio going east. Take the chuckawala valley road exit about 8 miles east of Desert Center, go east another mile on dirt road, turn south on Corn Springs road and follow south then west to corn springs. Total destination from I-10, is about 8-10 miles. Plenty of off road trails to follow. There is an out house, old water pump that pumps fresh water from deep under ground and there is some petroglyphs and old Indian stones with corn grinding holes just before you reach corn springs.
